I advise PhD students both in Linguistics and in Computer Science (I am capitalizing these words as they refer to the Stony Brook departments, not the disciplines in general). The topics I am interested in working on are listed here — the type of work I am interested in can be done in either Linguistics or Computer Science. I am working with faculty and students in the Computer Science, Linguistics, and Psychology departments.

I am not currently looking for PhD students in Computer Science for fall 2025.

If you are still interested in working with me, please email me, but be sure to start your email by stating that you want to get a PhD in Linguistics, and which of my two current research foci you are interested in.

Because of volume, I will not be able to reply to emails about PhD positions that do not specifically state an interest in obtaining a PhD in Linguistics, and that do not refer specifically to one of my areas of research interests. Thanks for your understanding.
